-we closed on our house (finally!). Then started making it livable--think baby poop yellow/green and deep red walls, filthy carpet, and all appliances and light fixtures ripped out. At least we got a great deal! My family and Jacob's mom were SO nice to come slave away cleaning and painting while I could hardly help at all.

Desde que te he conocido yo vivo tan feliz
(I only speak Spanish in music lyrics)
Yesterday was our three year anniversary! We'll go out to celebrate sometime this weekend, but I felt like we should do something special on the actual day, so I set up a pretty fancy dinner. You know, lace tablecloth (paper doilies), candlelight (courtesy of Youtube), and some bubbly (Safeway brand sparkling cider). I even pulled out the nice plastic dishes instead of the usual paper. Oh and don't be deceived by the vase of green onions.
For dessert I prepared some fruit and cheesecake with chocolate fondue. YUMMM.
This is the place where I would like to share our wedding video but I, of all people, do not own a copy. So settle for this cute little vidy of our honeymoon:

2nd Anniversary Trip
This year for our anniversary trip, we decided to go to Vegas since we knew we'd be heading back to Utah around this time and it's right on the way!
Of course our first priority was to hit up the buffet. I've been trained since birth to be a lover of buffets, but unfortunately I'm not very good at them. I always get full too fast. At least Jacob definitely got his moneys worth.
Next we checked into our hotel room at Aria. It was soo nice! Everything in the room (lights, temp., curtains, etc) could be controlled from this little touch pad on the nightstand. No fighting about who has to get up and turn off the bathroom light!

That evening we went to Phantom of the Opera. I had never seen it for real, but I love the movie so I was really excited. It was AMAZING! We both had chills within the first 5 minutes and I loved every second of it. On the way back, we stopped to watch the fountains at Bellagio. I’m a sucker for all things choreographed, and it doesn’t get much better than giant fountains choreographed to Andrea Bocelli. Never gets old.

The next day, we did some exploring and played some games. Of course we had to go to the dungeon of Excalibur to play “Bop the Witch” and do the horse races. Jacob wasn’t very good at either, but we’ll give him time. I, however, won the horse race—ok it was just the two of us—and scored us some nun-chucks! Once we’d had all the fun we could handle, we continued our trek to Utah (and maybe had to stop at some outlets on our way).

Marriage can be hard work sometimes, but it sure is fun! This year has flown by, and let’s be honest, been a lot easier than the first year. If it get’s better every year, then I am one lucky kid!
Speaking of which… check out the really great gift he got me!
I always thought I didn’t need a wedding band since my engagement ring is already big and fancy and wouldn’t really look good with one. Then I decided I could have one just to wear on it’s own when I didn’t feel like being so fancy. Love it!

Anniversary Weekend
We spent our anniversary weekend in San Antonio. We left right after Jacob was done working on Saturday. We stayed in a hotel right on the Riverwalk which was beautiful. We explored for a while then found a place to eat. Afterwords we went on a little gondola ride.
The next day was our actual anniversary. Since both of us forgot to make each other cards, we spent that morning writing out letters on the hotel stationary. Mine was a really great poem so I said we had to read them aloud to each other... Mostly to make us feel a little uncomfortable. After a failed attempt to go to church we went to this "Japanese Tea Garden".

That night we stayed at a really pretty resort. We had agreed NOT to get gifts since we were doing a trip instead. Sure enough, Jacob pulls out a bag full of jewelry boxes. Pearl necklace, earrings, and bracelet. I was genuinely surprised and I loved them too much to be mad at him for tricking me.
We spent the next day at 6 Flags. It was way too hot, but so much fun. We love that place!
Having a stranger take your photo never goes well.
Jacob: Could you make sure and get the "Goliath" in there?
Stranger: Yeah, sure.

365 days later...
We have officially survived an entire year of marriage!
We had a fun getaway weekend, but our camera is packed away, so that will have to come later. For now, I will just tell you how perfect we both are and all about our perfect marriage.
hah
O.k. we have our moments, and it hasn't always been easy. I sometimes wonder what I was thinking as a very immature 18-year-old deciding to take on something so serious. But then I remember that I would have been crazy to pass up Jacob. Really. I can't think of anyone else who would be sweet/calm/patient enough to deal with all of my drama queen moments.
And for the most part, it has been a lot of fun living with my BFF. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Oh and we still love each other to boot!
