let me complain for a sec...

It's cold here. I want to go back to Houston. I sort of loved it there. I miss the green, the hot and humid, feeling like a minority when I went to Walmart, the free time, reading by the pool, crazy neighbors. I REALLLY miss having a big enough kitchen to cook in, weekly temple trips, and of course Brittany and Jen (they were like my big sisters)!
ok. that's all.
I guess snow and midterms are cool too. (nope)

talents and shtuff

With all my free time this summer, I've been developing many new talents:
Sewing, cooking, painting, jewelery-making.
I think this will be my next endeavor. (Jacob and I watch these for hours at night when we should be sleeping)

Yes, one man doing ALL sounds.
I had quite a knack for free-style rapping as a kid, so I'll probably incorporate that talent as well. who knows.

cheap entertainment

One time I said something about being more observant than Jacob which, naturally, turned into a competition/game that we spent the next hour playing.
Basically, one of us had to remove one movie from our sad collection and the other would try to identify which one was missing. It's harder than you might think!
Too much time on our hands?

Rollin' With the Homies

For my 20th birthday party, I went with a 90s theme... mostly because some of my older friends were shocked that I wasn't born in the 80s.
The invites:

Jacob went a little crazy at the dollar store finding "90s candy". It did remind me of my childhoodI wanted a backdrop for guests to take photos in front of when they arrived. I got a white plastic tablecloth from the dollar store and splatter painted it.
Yes I'm sporting butterfly clips, ringlets, crushed velvet, and knee highs. So hawt.
Other festivities included a Pog tournament, Guitar Hero (no that's not from the 90s, I just like to show off my skills), and watching Clueless.
Probably the least amount of money and planning I've ever put into a party, and I must say it was pretty fab!

Banner-maker

Jacob made me this for when I came home from Arizona. I think it took him a really long time. And I love it.

That explains why you're so refined. Ya, and so oily.

Jacob and a few of the other guys decided to take a day off so we could all go to Schlitterbahn! I love saying that word. Schlitterbahn is a really cool water park in Galveston. It was really fun and it's always refreshing to hear Jacob scream like a little girl. ;)I still can't believe I went down that white one. It was the steepest one I've ever seen, and I am scared of heights.

Afterward, Clay and Amanda came with us to explore Galvaston. It's the coolest place. Everything is on stilts and there are some eerie abandoned buildings from the hurricane. I especially love this hotel, because we could see furniture in the rooms still.Cweeepy.
Amanda and I fully intend on returning and exploring it. Our boys were too scared.
We also played on a beach for 2.3 minutes before we decided it was dinner time! We ate out on the deck of a restaurant. You know, the kind with big red, green, and yellow bulbs hanging everywhere. It was really nice out and made me feel like I was on vacation. After we ate, we found this Christian worship sing-a-long on the beach. Of course we sat and listened to the whole thing. An "oil spill shell"

Saturdays are my favorite.

On Saturdays, the boys get to come home around five, so we always try to do something fun. This Saturday, we went to The Galleria which is the hugest mall I've ever seen. No really, there's an ice skating rink in the mall!

I wanted to spend 34 hours exploring the place, but boys don't like doing that. I'll have to go back sometime by myself or with only girl friends.

There was a cute little candy shop, but the prices were outrageous. Luckily, it was free to take our picture with the giant chocolate bunny. Thank goodness!

Feeeelin' Grooovy

I spent most of yesterday (and the day before) sitting here:
With this on my iTunes

But I'm not completely antisocial. I also did P90X with my lady friends.
Then at night, I sat with Jacob out on our deck and pretended I was at the beach because it's very humid and breezy here. I talked and talked and sometimes he talked a little bit. Then he tried to tickle torture me when I was trying to sleep. Whoever lives on the other side of that wall must have thought someone was being murdered.
I love being in school, but I'm also enjoying this temporary stay-at-home wife thing.

I'd hit that.

We made a pinata.
Not sure why we felt it was necessary to paper mache a cardboard box, but it sure was fun. Some paint and tissue paper later...
It's a basketball jersey. Obviously.

The birthday boy attempting to break it open. He started smothering under his "blindfold" before he could.

Not to worry. Jacob brought his machete.

Will you accept this rose?

Last night some of us girls got together in honor of the new season of The Bachelorette. Amanda and I even made these rose cupcakes from fruit by the foot. (This is what they were supposed to look like anyway)
from here

It's too early to pick favorites, but we did all like the guy that sounded like he was hard of hearing. However, by the look of things, I think he goes nuts sometime during the season. I'm sure I'll have some more solid predictions in the future.

We become silhouettes

Since I don't want to spend a lot of money decorating the apartment we'll only be living in for 4ish months, I've been making stuff. This also gives me something to do all day while Jacob is working. Other summer activities include: watching rubbish on TV, reading good books, swimming, hanging out with the other ladies, and improving my cooking skills (I love having a real kitchen!). I know, rough life.

Craft project #213

I may or may not have trimmed down my double chin. Just a tiny bit.

moved

Finals are done, our grades are fridge-worthy, and we are moved into our new apartment in Texas! Next task- keeping myself entertained for four months.
