Mah Boyz

I looooove this age! Harvey is such a ham. He'll do anything for a laugh, like make this face every time we say his name. He doesn't say much in English (though his gibberish is excellent), but today I laid him down to change his diaper and he said "ewww POOOP! Disgusting" Even his potty talk delights me.

And this one started piano about 2 months ago and is already starting to read music on a staff (is that even what it's called? I can't remember). He LOVES it and loves practicing, ok he loves making up weird songs, but he does practice the stuff he's supposed to, too. I dream of having beautiful piano music filling my house one day so for now I'll settle for his clinking away on a digital piano.

Last night went to a carnival fundraiser for a family friend that grew up next to us and has cancer. Great way to get out and do something fun with the kids and support a good cause (in leotards because they came straight from dance).

Good stuff today

This tastes like the vinaigrette from Cafe Rio! I'll eat salad all day long if I can put this on it.

"50 Feet from Syria" documentary on Netflix. I'm trying to spend less time watching smut and more time broadening my perspective so I can appreciate how tiny my first world problems are, because #dramaqueen

Speaking of, I just started Zoloft again. I'm accepting that I am just not capable of being a nice, patient person without some extra help. And hopefully I'll stop having panic attacks too

When my kids get a candy that comes with two or more, they always give the second (and third) to one of their siblings. Meanwhile, I'll be hiding in my room keeping all my treats to myself.

This quote:
"We must fill our own waterpots up to the brim. When we trust and follow Him, our lives, like water to wine, are transformed. We become something more and better than we ever otherwise could be."
-L Whitney Clayton

That's about 7 new water bottles dumped onto the driveway for their amusement before I caught them. So wasteful!

Soaking up the last mornings of nice weather. One of those isn't mine.

But not that baby.

Monday, April 17, 2017

I started out the day as a good mom. I got to the gym by 5 am to work out, made breakfast, got everyone dressed and to school on time, and took them all to the splashpad to have a picnic and play.
After doing dishes, loading and unloading everyone into the car 16 times, having a full diaper thrown at my head, catching the kids hiding in a closet scarfing down all the Easter candy right before dinner, and being told I was mean, I turned into a bad mom (i.e. Muttering "I'm about to rip someone's face off" followed by a gasp from Clark and a whispered "Did you hear that? Mom's going to rip someone's face off!")
And it's pretty much the same story every day--except the days when I just wake up mean.

Back at it

I think I'll start blogging again, because I don't thinksocial media is good for my mental/lemotional health. Or time management. Yesterday was Easter so we took a family selfie, went to Stake Conference--ya, on Easter; no, I didn't hear a thing--and then went to my parents' for a feast and giant egg hunt.

Some things about baby Harvey (6 weeks):
-still a great sleeper, thank heavens!

-he was pretty fussy at first, and we found out it's because his insides were injured because of an intolerance to something I was eating. Now that I've cut out all potential culprits (everything good in the world--dairy, gluten, nuts, soy, red meat) he is so chill! Once his poop is looking normal, I can start adding stuff back to my diet and hopefully not have to eat bunny food for the next year.

-despite his digestive issues, he loves eating and is a giant! I was used to the twins growing soo slowly. He is getting big way too fast. I do love not having to worry about if he's getting enough to eat.

-coos back when we talk/coo to him

-is very loved by his siblings. They all love holding him and getting things for him. They put on high pitched voices to talk to him and rush to help him when he's upset. I'm enjoying it while it lasts because I'm sure he'll be joining the fighting in a few months here.

Twins Are Two

Magnolia's observing/resting face is a scowl

but she's also very enthusiastic

My little tiny babies are TWO. I kept thinking they were my tiny babies until I brought a newborn home and realized they had grown up. These girls are a handful and very much two-year-olds but also a lot of fun. Watching them interact with each other and with Clark is the best. Sometimes it involves bite marks and handfuls of hair, but sometimes it's laughing and creative play and cute conversations.

As I've watched them develop into two completely different people, it's crazy to me that people still think they look the same/have a hard time telling them apart. My family (lovingly) refers to Magnolia as Mag"mole"ia because the little mole on her forehead is how they distinguish her from Wendy. Hope that one doesn't stick into her school years...

I tried to do birthday interviews with them, but Wendy would not cooperate, and Magnolia doesn't speak very clearly. At least it paints an accurate picture of them at this age. I'm pretty good at talking people into things, but not Wendy. When girl has her mind set on doing things a certain way--and she almost always does--there is no changing her mind. Magnolia is a bit more accommodating, but gets really upset about things like someone not holding her hand while we walk up/down the stairs or her blanket not having the flower side up when we put her to bed. They both love singing and think it's funny to put peoples' names into songs ("Twinkle, twinkle little MOM....nooooo!") There's a lot of other cute things I could write about them, but it would take way too long.
